How was the Dementia Learning and Research Community designed?

The formation of the Dementia Learning and Research Community was inspired by the Liverpool Dementia & Ageing Research Forum which launched in 2019 to address inequalities faced by people living with dementia and their families and unpaid carers.

The Australian landscape of dementia awareness, diagnosis and care is complex as Australia has a small population with diverse communities on a large continent. In order to tailor the Dementia Learning and Research Community to the unique Australian context, it has been designed through a series of workshops with people living with dementia, former and current caregivers, health and aged care professionals and researchers. Regular evaluations of the community will also be conducted to ensure it meets members' needs and expectations.
